October 24, 2001 - 2:04 p.m. I fought the cold, and the cold won [cheesy music fading into the background] that's right, folks. the cold that has beens stalking me since friday has gained the upper hand. even after my dayquil, i'm left with a drizzling nose, bouts of uncontrollable sneezing, and the occasional tickle leading to aggravating, hacking coughs. ah but, there may be hope! i am currently enjoying a big bowl of classic chicken noodle soup. i've finished only half of it, but my nose is discernably less congested already. if it's a placebo effect, it's darn strong. actually, i remember reading somewhere that a study was done which did prove that there is some compound in chicken soup that really does help to fight a cold. i don't remember the actual study - i remember the gist, which was basically "Mom was right after all". Thanks, mom. the cold is giving me a serious case of CRS today, so I really better run while I'm still somewhat coherent. i have a lot of stuff to do today, and not much time left. besides that, although my head is clearing up, i still have little to no energy. all i really want to do is curl up in a ball and take a nap. which urge, so far, i have resisted. we'll see how long i last.
